Renovator’s Survival Guide Amanda Falconer - author, renovation survivor and building industry professional

Date: Thursday, June 25th
Time: 6pm-6:30pm (Refreshments) 6:30pm (Start)

Speaker: Amanda is Sydney-based and for the last decade has worked in the building industry. She is not only the marketing manager of a large building materials company, but also the executive editor of LookHome™ magazine, a guide to renovating and building.

The renovation of her own home several years ago led to her writing The Renovator’s Survival Guide, published by Penguin in February 2009. The Sunday Age described the book as “exhaustive but user-friendly” and “recommended for anyone considering renovation.”

Archicentre Managing Director Robert Caulfield described The Renovator’s Survival Guide as an “enlightening and entertaining book which gives a first hand look at some nightmares and how they could have been avoided.”

In her talk on kitchen renovation Amanda will outline not only some key design tips, but also some of the construction essentials.

Topics to be covered on the night include: Renovator’s Survival Guide

  1. The trends in colour, materials and sustainability
  2. Key design tips and common layouts
  3. The construction checklist
  4. Typical costs and ways to save
